British culture is dominated by one thing: alcohol. It serves a useful purpose in terms of sexual selection, which ultimately, is our only goal. Men are able to display confidence, risk taking, aggression, bravado, etc. Women are able to display vulnerability. Both men and women can get away with a lot more when drunk. The use of alcohol (by both sexes) is often the only way that low-status men can obtain sex outside a long-term relationship.
I've been sober since 27 April 2003.
